| Each Independence Day weekend, up to ten thousand music lovers converge on the scenic mountain town of Quincy, California for the High Sierra Music Festival - a celebration of music, freedom and consciousness. For the fourteenth annual event, more than 80 bands of all musical genres performed over four days against the majestic backdrop of the Sierra Mountains. Fans boogied, friendships were cultivated and the good times flowed as freely as a mountain stream.
Rock, bluegrass, folk, jazz and electronic are among the diverse musical sounds that emanate from the five High Sierra stages. The intense late-night shows, which highlight the best the jamband scene has to offer, are widely regarded as the ultimate live music experience. The High Sierra Music Festival is also more than music; off-stage entertainment includes interactive parades, kid's stuff, tasty food, master workshops and nature activities.
Whether you are a newbie or have been to the festival before, Hitting the High Notes is your invitation to experience the joy and magic of "the best fest in the west" from an insider's perspective. Hang out with festival freaks at their campsites, witness incredible offstage acoustic jam sessions and listen to famous artists speak candidly about their craft - all set to the music of familiar and rising bands including festival favorites LEFTOVER SALMON and THE RADIATORS.
Featuring the hottest bands on the scene today, Hitting the High Notes is a lovingly made documentary concert film that will put you in the front row for an unforgettable musical experience as dramatic as the Sierra Mountains.
