JD Casper

JD CASPER is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist originally from Lewis Run, Pennsylvania, deep in the Allegheny Mountains. Raised around traditional picking and mountain music, that environment shaped his early connection to bluegrass—something that still sits at the core of his sound today.

Chasing that sound further, JD Casper moved to Austin, Texas to pursue music full-time, cutting his teeth in the city’s demanding live music scene. Starting as a one-man band, he built a reputation for high-energy performances and inventive arrangements that blur the lines between bluegrass, country, alternative, and early 2000s pop-punk.

He gained national exposure with an appearance on NBC’s The Voice, introducing a wider audience to his raw vocal style and stripped-down approach. Since then, he’s continued to build momentum through relentless touring, standout performances across Texas, and a growing catalog of releases. His album EMOGRASS (Grass That Cuts Itself) helped define his lane—reimagining early 2000s emo and pop-punk songs through a bluegrass lens, and quickly becoming a fan-favorite concept.

Known for turning familiar material into driving, acoustic arrangements, JD Casper has carved out a lane that bridges Appalachian tradition with the energy of the Texas live music scene. Whether performing solo or with a full band, he brings an intensity and authenticity that connects across genres.
With mountain roots and a Texas backbone, JD Casper continues to push his sound forward while staying true to where it all started.
