Modest Mouse seemed to appear overnight with Good News for People Who Love Bad News, but by the time “Float On” took over the airwaves, Isaac Brock, Eric Judy and Jeremiah Green had spent more than a decade winning fans with clever wordplay and eclectic songwriting. Pickin’ On Modest Mouse is an unorthodox tribute to one of music’s most unorthodox bands. Iron Horse pairs deft technical picking with spare harmonies, and the result is haunting and angelic, proof of how well Modest Mouse’s songs carry across genres. This album is good news for anybody’s ears..
